With a mixture of pride and incredulity, Renee--who hails from one of
Brooklyn's most tight-knit West Indian communities--explains, "My
parents taught me that there was no reason why I couldn't be whatever I
wanted to be and I believed them. Why couldn't this skinny little
girl grow up to be one half of Motown's most precious natural resources?
Back when I was growing up, I didn't know what career I wanted to have,
but I had two supportive parents. That's a blessing. My mom and dad are
my role models and I will always approach what I'm doing in a
professional manner.
