Timeline...watching
paint dry is more exciting...
by Michael Flanagan |
|
Wimpy The title of the review
says it all, folks. Perhaps I am unqualified to be writing
this, since I didn't actually finish the movie. No, didn't
is the wrong word. Couldn't fits better. I
couldn't because it put me to sleep. Twice. And I
wasn't tired. I made it through two and a half hours of
Master and Commander, which was great, and there was very
little action in it. Timeline had medieval battles
with fire and it was tiresome. You may say, "well, you
watched Commander and just stayed up too late for
Timeline." Good point. Which was why I turned
off Timeline and started it from where I left off the
next day. I was asleep in half an hour. Again, this
was a time travel movie, I love time travel movies, that managed
to suck the excitement right out of the idea of sci-fi, with
characters who seemed as bored as they were boring. Bad
acting, bad dialogue, and sets and costumes that looked like the
Renaissance Faire they had at my alma mater. In the Bronx!
On the other hand, maybe it didn't suck the excitement out.
Maybe it just sucked. Watch Bill and Ted's Excellent
Adventure. Much better movie. Unless you're an
insomniac. In that case, Timeline is for you. |
