Charlotte 'Charlie' Cantillini (Jennifer Lopez) notices a man
twice in the same day. Could it be fate? Catering a party the
following night she runs into him again. This time, he
introduces himself. Meanwhile, his mother, National News Anchor
Viola Fields (Jane Fonda), looses her job to a much younger
replacement. By the time Kevin (Michael Vartan) brings his
girlfriend home to meet Mom, Viola's sanity is hanging from a
thread - and snaps when Kevin gets down on one knee to propose.
Viola decides she needs a new project. She enlists her
long-time assistant, Ruby (Wanda Sykes) in crazy schemes to get
rid of the 'tramp' threatening to take her precious son away.
But Viola underestimates her son's fiancée. Who will win?
Review: There's just an amazing chemistry between Jennifer
Lopez and Jane Fonda. I'm normally not a Lopez fan, but Fonda's
presence just seems to bring out something incredibly genuine in
her. This is definitely a girl movie. Ruby, played by Wanda
Sykes had the entire theater roaring with laughter. I haven't
had this much fun since "Greek Wedding". |
