Out of shape and low on
patience, he dons his uniform and gets back in the game to save
his business persona by hitting three more hits. What
happens along the way from 2,997 to 3,000 is the stuff that this
film is made of.
Angela Bassett, as beautiful at 47 as she has ever been, is
wonderful as the long time, on again, off again love
interest. A sports TV reporter.
Mr. 3000 is a solid
movie that most people will enjoy. It's the kind of
film that in five years, when you find yourself channel surfing for
a while and run into it, even though you've already seen it
a couple of times, you'll put a smile on your face and
contentedly watch it again. That's my prediction for
Mr. 3000 and most of you.
Here's the problem. In my opinion the trailers do not
represent the film for all it is. I'm concerned that too
many people, expecting a laugh-a-minute comedy, will be
disappointed in a movie that they would have otherwise
enjoyed. Not that Mr. 3000 is not a funny movie, it is
a very funny movie.
But it also has it's dramatic moments, and is pretty serious
when it gets into Stan Ross, the charming, selfish,
completely self-centered person and his relationship with
the people around him, who he has the ability to disappoint.
Luckily I'm a mature, level headed adult who was able to
rise above my initial disappointment and enjoy this fine
film. Meaning nothing disparaging about any of you who may
be reading this review.
Go see it, you don't have to be a baseball fan to get into
it. |
