So, you want to buy a gun?
by Joe De Matteo
Solid
Lord of War is a snappy light comedy/action/thriller
movie, in which the comedy mostly revolves around Yuri's
(Nick Cage) business dealings. Oh, didn't I tell
you, this quick with a quip guy is an arms dealer. |
| Yuri goes from New York
through out the world meeting bad boys in the death
business, and justifying his business, and always
cracking wise. Nicholas Cage is the real deal, a true
life Superstar. He plays Yuri believably, just as
he did Captain Corelli, in
Captain Corelli's Mandolin, a great film that is
completely different than Lord of War. Just like
Yuri is completely different than Captain Corelli, and
they are both different than Tom Welles (8MM), Rick
Santoro (Snake Eyes), Seth (City of Angles), Cameron Poe
(Con Air), Frank Pierce (Bringing Out the Dead).
Don't get me wrong, there are parts Cage has played that
you know, for a while, anyway, that it's Nicholas Cage
that you're watching, but he usually drags you into the
film. |
|
| I refuse to tell the story in a review,
and I really haven't, but that's because I left out the
details. there isn't much to the Lord of War
story beyond what I've told you, but the film is
worth seeing, and probably even owning when the DVD
arrives. |
