Disney Planning "Fully Loaded" DVD Version of
'Herbie'
12 July 2005 (StudioBriefing)
Taking the title Herbie: Fully Loaded to heart, Disney is
planning a fully loaded DVD version of its recent hit, including
a 20-minute feature with Deborah Renshaw, NASCAR's top-ranked
female driver. "I want viewers to take away a sense of what it
feels like to be in a race car," Renshaw told Home Media
Retailing magazine. The trade publication also said that some of
the film's subplots that were removed from the theatrical
release may be returned to the DVD version. The film stars
Lindsay Lohan, Matt Dillon and Michael Keaton and is directed by
Angela Robinson. |

Opens in Top 10: Disney's Herbie: Fully Loaded starring,
Lindsay Lohan, opened at No. 4 with $12.8 million ($17.8 million
since its Wednesday debut), just behind the third week of Fox's
Brad Pitt-Angelina Jolie comedy thriller Mr. & Mrs. Smith,
Pre-view: December 2005

Lindsay saves Herbie

Solid
Herbie: Fully Loaded will be appreciated by the young
and forgiving, young-at-heart. Those pure of heart,
non-judgmental movie goers will get a kick out of Herbie and
his latest adventure.
There is even a
beautiful young girl for the boys to fall in love with (Lindsay
Lohan). Maggie Peyton (Lindsay
Lohan), daughter of the famous auto racer,
Ray Peyton Sr., played by Michael Keaton, finds Herbie in a
junk yard and has Kevin (Justin Long) rebuild the old VW.
Peyton Sr. has handed the steering wheel over to his son,
Breckin Meyer and name sake, but Ray Jr. is in the midst of
a slump. Ray's nemesis, Trip Murphy is not only Matt
Dillon, but he's a unlikable hot shot driver.
Enter the rebuilt, very animated and some say self-aware,
Herbie and
Lindsay
Lohan. This and that happen (which is
what you'll go to the movie to see), and
Lindsay
gets challenged to enter Herbie in the race. and of course,
that is where the fun begins.
Many who saw and liked the original Herbie movies are upset
with the 21st Century Herbie for his unbelievable new
abilities. Well, my fellow baby boomers, Our parents
and the older kids thought the same thing you're thinking
about the original Herbie movies. You bought it then
because you were a kid, but those were corny, dumb
fairytales, just as this one is now. The only
difference is CGI. Think about this. Don't you
think that if CGI were available back then, they'd have used
it. Of course the y would have, just as they're using
it now. They've just changed a character that you
liked, and you've just grown up.
Herbie: Fully Loaded is a great summer movie for
kids. And
Lindsay
Lohan watchers. |
