High School is a gateway to the spirit world and the door's
wide open. Haruto, Kazumi, and Mutsumi are three
specially talented high school kids from divinely rich
lineages. Haruto is the son of a Christian minister who
simply wants a normal life and is more than reluctant to
embrace his new role as Saito High's chief ghost-buster.
Kazumi is the oversexed son of a Buddhist monk who is consistently
possessed by bizarre spirits that have him acting like a dog
or dressing in women's clothing. The third council
member is Mutsumi, the tough-as-nails, apathetic daughter of a
Shinto priest who is sexually attracted to little boys (yes,
you read that right). The religious ties these oddballs
were born with endow them with special mystical martial skills
they use to combat the supernatural forces that are
threatening our world. Together they form the Holy
Student Council and are destined by prophecy to defend the
world from supernatural menaces. |

"This series pushes the envelope
big time..."
|
Haruto is in possession of seven badges. Each one
capable of summoning one of Saito High's spirits. There
is a little girl in a mirror, a little boy statue that comes
to life named Nino, a giant leg in the school gym, a skeleton
model and a model of the human body that come to life in the
science lab, a handsome rogue named Red Mantle that overwhelms
women's passions, a scantily voluptuous female ghost named
Toilet Hanako who hangs out in the boy's bathroom stalls and
...overwhelms their passions in a more physical manner, and
finally the eccentric school chairman who guides the Holy
Student Council on their adventures. Each of the spirits
possess unique skills that, believe it or not, make these
allies prove themselves valuable when combating the less
amicable spirits that threaten the tangible world. |
| Does
this sound like the recipe for a silly comedy? If so,
you will probably enjoy this series. In an odd way, it's
edgy yet silly humor reminds me of Urusei Yatsura or
even Ranma 1/2,
except that this one's a little crazier and a little more
perverse. This series pushes the envelope big time (like
Mutsumi's attraction to little boys, or Toilet Hanako's
amorous nature in the bathroom stalls) but it is part of what
makes the series so good.. If you like absurd comedies
with eccentric characters and twisted plotlines than this
series is a must-see. I would like to see another
Haunted Junction series. |
