Confessions gets no
absolution here.

Solid
This is not my kind of
movie. I don't like the characters or the plot. Not only that, but as the father of two
young girls, the last thing I want is to have my
children influenced by characters who may be viewed as
COOL, but are either rudderless,
amoral, self-indulgent or self-destructive.
I give Confessions of a Teenaged Drama Queen
a Solid rating
because my beef with it has nothing to do with the
quality of the film. In fact, if you like this
kind of movie, and you're no longer at of impressionable
age or character, go see it - you'll enjoy it.

Lindsay Lohan

)is an extremely beautiful young woman. One look
at the movie's home
page will show you 7 pictures of her to prove my
point. I'm sure she's got a great career
ahead of her. For her sake I hope she has a good
moral anchor and a strong character. I hate to
see people who make a success of their careers only to
have a miserable life. River Phoenix comes to
mind as an example of tragic self-destruction.
But the list is a long one, with the likes of John
Belushi, Janis Joplan, and too many others.
It's always fun for me to
watch the careers of young actors like Lindsay, and
I'm happy to see that Eli Marienthal
(Stifler' brother) is working.
So, it's a Solid for
Confessions, it's just not for me (or my
daughters-yet). |
