Super
Balls of Fury is my utmost favorite Kung fu/Ping Pong movie of all times.
And it has in it my utmost favorite actor (whose initials are CW )
of all times. |
| Christopher Walken the perfect Feng - this part had to have been
written for him, or re-written or re-written as the filming
progressed. I wonder where they got the
idea for his hairdo?
An outrageous comedy that will do for Ping Pong what Dodgeball
did for Dodgers. Kung Fu/Ping Pong rooms are going to sprout up
like Shitaki mushrooms; I can see it now.
The underside of Ping Pong is a world I've never known about, but
I'm so glad I've discovered. It certainly has more balls than
bare-knuckle fighting (Pit Fighter
{a must see, if you can take it}).
Look, this is a fun film made for people who like watching things
like Dude, Where's
My Car, or Reno 911. Shut off your power to reasoning, your memory
of classic films, any remnants of a classic film education, and get into a
juvenile state of mind. |

| I have to laugh at critics that actually try to
critique movies like this with the same mindset they have with
"serious" films. Man, this isn't representing itself as an equal
to Gone With the Wind. It's dumb humor. If you don't
like this kind of thing, tell us that you don't get it. Better
yet, go talk with someone who
saw it and loved it. Find out what people who like this stuff
think of it.
They do the same thing with action
movies. Someone who gets offended by the F word and lots of
people getting blown-up, shouldn't review those movies. It's
the efforts of people that 'don't get it' that has stop big
production action films. Who are you to condemn a popular
genre of film.
Personally, I don't always like this type of humor; I'm much too
mature for it. But, I
got a kick out of seeing some very good actors, and Christopher Walkien, a great actor, horsing around.
I've read that it slows down past the middle, and yes they may
have a point,
but the film is what it represents itself to be. And, hey, it's
funny. By the way, they
have a really fun website (OFFICIAL SITE).
The answer to the question, SHOULD I GO SEE BALLS OF FURY? is
simple: Do you like the trailer, (knowing that they always
show the best of the film in the trailer) then go see it and don't expect the
quality of Lord of the Rings.
If when you read this Balls of Fury is out of the theaters and on DVD,
rent it, or buy it, you'll laugh at the absurdity. I want to see the
out-takes.
